Ah, Flowers! They speak volumes without even a whisper. They speak of love, friendship, sympathy, peace, and worship. Without flowers the world simply would not be the wonderful place it is. Flowers bring happiness to everyone even if the flower is a simple weed picked by an eager child or a breathtaking bridal bouquet carried by a blushing bride. Flowers are the most powerful part of God's palette.
At one time or another everyone has probably sent someone flowers from a florist or at least picked a bouquet from her own garden to take to someone. We give flowers as a sign of love. Mostly men, of course, are the major flower shop customers. They rely on their friendly neighborhood florist to take their order, create a stunning array of flowers, and then deliver them to that lucky someone. Most women love receiving flowers from that special someone in their lives; the flowers make them feel loved and special. They will be sure to thank their boyfriend, fiancé, or significant other for his loving gesture. Sure some women send flowers from a florist, but this is still not the norm.
One great thing about sending flowers is that you don't have to worry about sizes, colors, or the right style as you would if you bought clothing or accessories. You know flowers are certainly one size fits all. Sometimes, sending flowers will get you out of the dog house. Nothing in the world says sorry better than a lovely floral arrangement. She will accept your "sorry" in a heart beat. The best expression is to send the flower arrangement from a special flower shop to your intended's office or school so that everyone can ooh and ahh over the beautiful flowers. Everyone, especially other women, will tell your loved one that she is so lucky to have a guy like you. All of the women in the office will be jealous which will make your girl very happy. Every woman loves being envied for having the perfect husband, lover, or fiancé.
When you are first dating a woman, sending her flowers to thank her for the lovely evening is a gesture that has never grown out-of-date. The arrangement doesn't have to be extravagant; it should be simple like a spring flower bouquet or a pretty flower basket. Save the roses for the big time. Send her flowers from a florist for no reason at all. Sign the card, "Just Because". Women will love you for the sweetness of your sending them flowers for no reason at all. If you want to score more points, try to remember your first date or the first day you met. Call a florist and ask them to send your loved one a veritable flower garden. She will love getting an arrangement of flowers, wild flowers, and greenery. Not only will she know you remembered that very special day, she will know that the day is special to you also.
Roses mean love to most of us. Red roses are the traditional symbol of love. If you go by a flower shop on your way to a date, stop in and ask for a single red rose with a pretty ribbon. When you hand your girl this simple rose, she will know she is loved. You can even stop at most grocery stores because they have flower shops in them now. What you men need to know is that it's not the flower so much as the thought behind the gesture. You don't have to buy out the flower shop unless you want to; you can give her a simple flower arrangement or a single rose. Giving the flower or flowers is the special part although women do like to have flowers around.
Flowers can also be a gesture of friendship. Women often send their female friends flowers on special occasions like birthdays or holidays. If you are invited to a friend's house for a holiday dinner, it is customary to call a florist and ask for a special holiday arrangement to take with you to the dinner. If you forget, stop by a Wal Mart or grocery store and pick up a ready made flower arrangement.
On sad occasions like a death in the family, we show our love by sending flowers. Getting flowers from friends is such a comfort during sad times. They help to lighten the mood and help the family to see how much their loved one will be missed and how much others loved them also. Some of the most beautiful arrangements are created at flower shops for funerals. In small towns, especially in the South, flower shops stay open all night to make sure that they make all of the flower arrangements as beautiful as possible.
In churches all over the country and probably the world, flowers are arranged around the altar or in front of the minister's podium. Various people in the congregation arrange for a flower delivery to the church so that they can honor or memorialize a loved one. These arrangements are usual large and ornate flower arrangements. During holiday seasons, people in the congregation make sure that flower arrangements are distributed all over the church so that everyone can get in the holiday spirit. Putting flowers in the church is a very simple way to worship God in your own way.
Probably the most important time for flowers is at weddings. Brides and their mothers agonize over every part of the wedding and certainly about the flowers. They spend untold hours with the florist to choose the perfect flowers to accent the wedding and to match the colors chosen by the bride. Weeks can go by before all of the flowers are chosen and the flower arrangements picked out. Then the bride and her mother have to choose the flowers for the reception. Not only do the food tables need flowers but also each of the tables set up for guests. These flower arrangements need not be extravagant but they should be elegant and fit the theme of the wedding.
The bridal party flowers are very important also. They set the tone for the wedding. The bride's bouquet should be special and as ornate or simple as the bride wants. Her attendants should have bouquets also but not nearly as nice as the bride's bouquet. Each groomsman must have a boutonnière as should the groom and best man. Then there are the bride's and groom's mothers or grandmothers. They must have a pretty corsage that matches the overall color theme of the wedding and their dresses. If there is a flower girl, she should have a basket of rose petals in keeping with the color scheme also. Weddings without flowers would be like cake with no icing - nice but not that great.
Flowers are one of the most wonderful gifts we are given on this earth. They color our world with beauty. A good florist is someone who can help you with selection and color but the choices are yours and they are endless.
